We have been laying low enjoying a warm house on cold Scottish days. Have been delaying moving the animals out of the stables till a little later in the morning – more like 10-10:30. Much less chance of mutiny by the ducks and grumpiness from Nibbles. Always good to get back to a hot cuppa and a warm kitchen. We never look very glamorous these days. I seem to have perennial hat hair – the result of choosing to wear a beanie every time we leave the house. Warmth and comfort before style. No competition really!!!!
We did go a bit further afield today. Drove to beautiful Glen Affric – one of three glens in our area and the closest. Tomich is just on its boundary. Took two very happy dogs – they love a good walk – and set off on what was supposed to be an hours walk. We somehow ended up linking into other trails and walked through often deep snow, up and down hills, across bridges, and along the river’s edge for almost two. Doubled the distance at least. Absolutely pooped and very keen to sight the car park. Showed how unfit we still are!!!! The dogs lead the way and by the end were just about pulling us along! If we had a sled we would have hooked them up!!! Anyway, it was stunningly beautiful – even the exhaustion couldn’t spoil that for us. We came across two German ladies walking the same circuit but in the opposite direction. They thought that the Glen was way better than anything Germany had to offer. It has more natural beauty; not so structured and developed and clean. All of Germany is “clean” was their comment.
We are going out to afternoon tea tomorrow. A couple we met briefly when we first arrived – they have a huge house they use as a B&B – have invited us over. They are friends of Gill – our house sit home owner. A bit of a mouth full really! Planning to shop in Dingwall on Friday – our weekly shopping trip to the big smoke.
Love
Di and Reg
