Our time here in Dorset is coming to a close! Angela and Michael have returned from holiday and we head off tomorrow to Catherington, Hampshire for our next house sit. Our only outing since we returned our hire care was a very big walk to Forde Abbey – about 8 miles/13kms away. Lots of hedged lanes, quaint villages, little country cottages, and beautiful countryside. Traffic was still busy – even on the smallest of roads. Quite difficult to let the cars pass – sort of sandwiched in by the hedges! Nearly had our toes run over at times! Still, we had lovely weather – even wore hats to shade the sun – and it was really nice getting out in the fresh air. We made it to Forde Abbey, had a quick look – lovely old building, wide open grounds and picnic areas, secluded gardens – and walked home again. Pretty exhausted when we got back, but needed to make an effort. Morning teas, great lunches on the road, and the odd meal at the local pub have taken their toll!
I guess last night didn’t really help – but never mind! We had a great BBQ with Angela and Michael in our little cottage garden. We moved a table outside – looked amazing – and had a lovely night. Reg was the cook extraordinaire, Michael supplied some very good wine. A nice way to say goodbye.
Love as always
Di and Reg
