Hi everyone,
Just a quick hello. Rowena and Peter arrived home safely from Portugal – they had a great time. We now have 4 of the 5 foster children here; Elli is still in Paris. We all enjoyed a BBQ last night under the pergola. A real family time. There has been a change of plans. We are not needed to house sit here for the next couple of weeks. Peter and Rowena were going to have another little break away but now just want to stay put. So we have some time to spare, and a car and camping gear we can borrow. We’re off on a little holiday! Firstly back to Beaune to check out some more wine, then maybe the Beaujolais region, definitely over to Switzerland and on to the Black Forest in Germany, back into France to the Alsace and Champagne areas, then home. That’s the plan anyway. We leave tomorrow – very excited!
We recently revisited Peter and Jayne at Le Grand Cordray – the B&B near Precy in the Loire. We stayed with them on our way over to Burgundy. They had their annual boules day and we were invited back to enjoy some food and wine and to play a little boules . We had never played before, very much on our Learners Plates. Poor Oliver – friend of Jayne and Peter and a local chef – tried to teach me the finer points! It was a very social day all round. Jayne outdid herself again with some great food and Olivier cooked the BBQ. Lots of smoke to start off with but the steaks were amazing! Most of the guests were local French people. Reg and I represented Australia, and some old English friends of Peter and Jayne’s were also visiting. A real multi-cultural day. Reg and I actually won some games – much to our surprise.
We drove over to Precy through the Morvan Natural Park – more beautiful scenery. We came home the next day after a quick lunch in Sancerre – through the park again but on a different route. One of Reg’s great sayings is “you can’t go the same way twice” and we rarely do!
Must go. Lots to do to get ready for tomorrow.
Cheers and love
Di and Reg
