We have been so busy!! We left Interlaken and drove to Luzern – amazing scenery yet again!! Didn’t realize it was school holidays and the camping ground in Luzern was nearly full. Having a little 2 man tent helped – we didn’t need a big site. So we put up the tent and got ourselves organized. There was a lovely French family next to us and it was great chatting to them – camping can be so social!! Also went for a walk around the camping grounds, saw a NZ flag and stopped to say hello. It was a wonderful feeling when we settled for the night, lying in our little tent, listening to all the different languages being spoken around us. I was pinching myself!!
The next morning we followed our Tom-Tom to the shores of Lake Zurich – near the city centre and a real hive of activity. Nice to stretch our legs. Next it was off over the border into Germany to a little campsite near the village of Titisee, on Lake Titisee, in the southern Black Forest. Another beautiful area, but really just a stop off on our way to the Alsace region. After an uneventful night we packed up our tent and set off, crisscrossing the countryside on some very lovely back country roads, heading west. More border hopping – this time back into France!
Alsace is another wine area – famous for Riesling and Traminer. So it was off to visit different caves in different little villages – Domaine Haag in Scherwiller, Domaine Dirringer in Dambach-la-ville, and finally Domaine Haegi in Mittelbergheim. All different, all worth a visit. We then continued north to the village of Bar to camp for the night. So here we are! Tent unpacked again. And more socializing already happening. There’s a lovely French couple camped next to us with their 19 month old grandson. Lots of looking at maps and comparing journeys!! Hopefully an early night!!
Love as always
Di and Reg
