Yesterday was beautiful Bruges day!! Piled into the car again – this time without Alexander. I guess he has to work sometime! Bruges was one of those places on my “must do” list, so very excited. It was wonderful. An amazing and very large city square – horses with little carts for rides, beautiful architecture, cobblestones and flags everywhere. So much character. Just walked. So much to see both in the square and down little side streets. Cute shops. Had a very yummy hot chocolate – something you just have to do when in Belgium! Pub for lunch then visited Gent – university town – on the way home. Lovely river running through the city centre – very pretty views.
Fantastic restaurant last night back in Antwerp. Really upmarket – very special. The waiters bought my meal to the side of the table on a little trolley and carved, white napkins across their arms. Everyone was looked after exceptionally well.
Thanks to Alexander and Caroline for all their wonderful hospitality. Also a huge hug to Annick for making us feel so welcome in her home – she is such a generous host! Off to Amsterdam today – next leg of our adventure.
Love as always
Di and Reg
