Just a little update before we leave Greytown. Firstly, we have bought a car – a 1994 Toyota Corona that seems to run well. Very excited to have our own wheels. We are off tomorrow to visit Hamish and Katherine – our Stronvar house sit people – to pick up some camping gear. Then off to Whangarei for a couple of weeks. We stayed in Whangarei for a few months about 3 years ago. It is quite a large harbour city 2 hours north of Auckland. We hope to catch up with some friends and maybe see some more of the local area. My back was not great when we were there so we didn’t do a lot sightseeing – I actually spent most days lying on the couch! It will be nice to do some more investigating. We’ll then move on to a new house sit we only got last week. It’s on a 2000 acre farm near Tirau, a small town south of Hamilton. We have no farm duties – the house owners don’t own the farm just live in the house. We will be there for two weeks looking after the house and one cat. We then have two week break before we arrive in Stronvar in mid December. Not sure what we will do during the break but sure we won’t have any trouble filling it.
We’ve had only one outing since I last wrote and that was to the Kapiti Coast, west of here. A really wild, windy day – the sea was full on but the coast line was still beautiful. We had fish and chips in the car by the sea and then drove back to Greytown over the mountains. Beautiful views back towards the coast from a lookout, and a lovely drive. Also keeping busy on our bikes, lots of great rides – especially love the rocky alpine river near us.
You may remember that our little granddaughter Molly was born in May. I have included a photo of her with big brother Will. How beautiful!!
Much love
