We ended up going to Rotorua as planned. An amazing, although very smelly place. Went to Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland to see the hot mud and sulphur pools. Interesting to walk around and see it all – like another world. Steam rising everywhere, little walkways across hot little lakes, mud boiling up in blobs. We’ve also been on a walk along the Waikato River. Off the beaten track. Lovely green forest trail, beautiful crystal clear water. Very different to Rotorua! Both were great days out, both kept us out of mischief!
We have also visited friends we met last time we were in NZ. They work at the Titoki Healing Centre near Whakatane – about one and a half hours drive east. We enjoyed visiting Whakatane again – lovely harbour and jetty. One of our favourite little towns. Also good to catch up with Bruce and Mary at Titoki. It was there that we heard about the Manna Healing Centre in the Taranaki – interesting story! Apparently they are looking for more staff and it’s been suggested we check it out. Not sure about it all!!! We are thinking of going that way to Wellington and just have a look. We’re having a little camping trip on the South Island between here and our next house sit in Stronvar, so will be catching the inter-island ferry. A little stop off couldn’t hurt. We will see!
Love again
Di and Reg
