Just an update in case you’re wondering what’s become of us. We’ve had some exciting times here at Manna! The building of the new Manager’s cottage has begun! Life has changed with lots of activity and unavoidable noise. Wonderful to see it all happening. We’ve also purchased a new dining room table for the centre – we’d out grown the old one. It was made for us by a local craftsman and looks great. Beautiful wood – beautifully made. We are all very proud of it!
We went for a break to Waipawa late September – over in Hawkes Bay. Spent a week in a little cottage on a farm – high on a hill overlooking beautiful farmland. Lovely gardens and views. Had some nice drives to the coast and some great local walks. We also spent time with our hosts, Warren and Marie, who run the Cleansing Streams Ministry here in NZ. They offer their cottage for people in ministry who need time out. We had some lovely evening meals with them and some very appreciated ministry time.
Late October we headed off to the city of Mt Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty, near Tauranga. The mountain sits at the end of a long narrow peninsula – it just seems to rise up out of the sea. The city sits at its base and winds itself back along the coast. We’d heard that climbing the mountain was a bit of a tradition so we decided to give it a go. We headed off, sun hats on, bottles of water handy, camera at the ready. Lovely views all the way – lots of stops for photos. Tired but happy when we made it to the top – much easier on the way down! We stayed in a flat near the Mt Maunganui city centre – not far from the mountain and the numerous very popular beach resorts and holiday houses. Nice to wander down the main street of an evening, good choice of restaurants, good atmosphere. Walks along the local beach, little drives during the day. Another great break – another lovely area to visit. It never ceases to amaze us just how beautiful NZ is – keep thinking we will be disappointed when going somewhere new – yet to happen!
Love to all
Di and Reg
