We had a lovely dinner out recently – at our favourite restaurant in New Plymouth – Bella Vita. We visit it often when we’re in New Plymouth on our day off but this time it was a special evening out with Tarsh – long term guest – and fellow staff members Robbie and Marie. We all got dressed up and headed off to the big smoke – New Plymouth is our nearest city. Wonderful food – as per usual – and some great wine. Special night.
We’ve also had a break at Christine and Rex’s mountain cottage inland from Waverley. Quite a long drive along narrow, winding mountain roads – but so worth it! What beautiful views and such a comfy cottage – everything you need and more. Wonderful red sunsets and misty mornings. They have bee hives on the farm and it was fun to watch the helicopters come in and move them around. The land is very steep so getting into the deep narrow valleys to move the hives by car or foot is difficult. Walks are also interesting – we mainly stick to the road!! It has been our second stay at the cottage and it has become a favourite. Absolute chill out time – feet up, nice bottle of red. Snuggled in by the fire if needed. You can see Mt Taranaki from the cottage and if you walk a small distance down the road you get glimpses of Mt Ruapahu. Perfect for us – mountains are our thing!
Cheers and love
Di and Reg
