A little update! All around our area there are cables. Strung across streets, along streets and across back yards. The squirrels use these cables – especially the big black ones – like a network of roads. We often see them racing along to some sort of urgent appointment or destination. It would be amazing to get a birds eye view of where they are going! As we have cables strung across our back yard we sometimes have squirrels arriving for breakfast via the Squirrel Super Highway. It is so hard to get a photo of them because they move soooooo fast! I have done my best.
We went for a walk to our local supermarket – Provigo – the other day. Nearly 3kms away, so tired by the time we got home! We’ve shopped at Provigo before but took the opportunity to just wander along and check out the other shops in the complex. One of interest was called “Bootlegger”. It supplies kits for people to make beer or wine at home. It was fun to talk to the owner and see the miniature equipment – even smaller than Purple Hands!! For those of you who don’t know Reg and I had a small wine making business called Purple Hands – mainly stationed in the McLaren Vale/Adelaide Hills region in South Australia. Anyway, also in the complex is a pharmacy, a bicycle shop, a bottle shop and a Subway. Maybe more but my mind has gone blank. The supermarket is quite small but has everything you need. The staff have always been very friendly and quite quickly pick that we are from somewhere far away! They’re very interested to know why we are here in the middle of winter! Quebec was settled by the French so Montreal has a large percentage of French speakers and most people speak both French and English. The supermarket signs are mainly in French – good for us to practice! We’ve been learning French online most days and are slowly improving.
Still not a lot of people out walking but the weather is slowly warming, and the streets are a little less lonely. We even get to take off our scarves at times and leave our coats at home. Feels quite strange!!
Cheers and love
Di and Reg

Great blog Di. Always makes a very interesting read. Looking at the snow pics makes me shiver, glad I’m here in sunny Goolwa, although Autumn is here early, at 8am this morning the temp is 14deg, bit too cool for me!
Best wishes to you both. Carol & Graham xx
