Off to Suffolk this afternoon. Just waiting for a few clothes to dry on the line to juggle our final packing. Just taking our back packs, computer case and hand bag. The handbag is rather large – bought it second hand at a local market in Larque-des-Alberes, a nearby village. Hopefully acceptable as a “personal item”!
Life has continued as normal here at Villa Bel Horizon. Daily walking of the dogs – always a slow pace but enjoyable. Lovely views of Mt Canigou in the distance and local vineyards as we wander along. Interesting to see men at work – tidying the vines. Another one of our chooks has gone to “chook heaven” so only one of the three has survived our care! And we thought we had lost her for a couple of days – she seemed to have disappeared. Checked the fence for escape holes but none to be found. We eventually found her sitting on some eggs in an old “A frame” hut in the middle of the chook yard. She somehow wriggled passed a barrier at the front door and hid herself at the back of the hut – in amongst some wood and bits and pieces. There is of course a beautifully constructed official chook house with little boxes for egg laying but as is so often the case with chooks they prefer to do their own thing. We have left her there although her pursuit of hatching some chicks seems a little hopeless with the lack of a rooster!
Erik and Anette – and the two younger dogs – returned from Denmark for a night before heading off for a few more days. Nice to see the older dogs catch up with their younger siblings. We went for a ride with Erik to check their boat at St Cyprien Marina. There had been some very windy weather so he wanted to make sure all was okay. Very enjoyable ride through the countryside and the marina was very impressive. Full of yachts and smaller sailing boats etc. Very quiet at the moment but apparently very, very busy during the holiday season with boat owners and tourists. Nice little treat near the end of our house sit.
Cheers and love

Hi there. Finally worked out how to use this site! We’ve been following your travels. We are just finishing our holiday of 7 days in the rainforest in the Atherton tablelands in Queensland. It’s been fantastic with birds on our balcony each morning and the sugar gliders at night. Peace and quiet plus! Back to reality tomorrow though. Glad you are still roaming! We don’t want you to get too comfortable in any one place over there. Thinking of you guys. Love Jo and Kev.
Great to hear from you two. I was just wondering the other day if you had been on your holiday yet. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Keep in touch xxxxxx
