Over at Domain Treloar to press some wine so making the most of the internet. Still no connection at the Thuir house sit. It’s amazing just how dependent we’ve become. Not being online is a bit like turning back the clock!
There is a young guy helping out at Damian Treloar – David from England. He comes back every year just for the love of being involved. It has been great getting to know him. He took us out for the afternoon recently. We visited the nearby village of Ille-sur-Tet – great village square, narrow streets, very old church. Then on to an old monastery called Prieurede de Serrabone. The monastery dates back over a thousand years, had fallen into disrepair but now beautifully restored. Lots of stone and marble carvings both inside and out. The drive up into the mountains was lovely, the views very typical of this region – dry and rocky.
We also went out to the Banyuls-sur-Mer wine festival on Saturday with Jonathon and David. We bought our wine glasses – they hung around our necks for safe keeping – and wandered the village visiting cellars, street stalls and bottle shops. Also lots of bands playing on street corners – really added to the atmosphere! It was interesting to taste the different wines: a variety of white, reds and fortified. The area is most famous for its fortified wines and the very picturesque steep vineyards that line the main road into town – always seen on tourist literature/info. Apparently there are other vineyards hidden away in the neighbouring valleys – less impressive but where most of the grapes are grown. They are also machine harvested. Not exactly the romantic picture most tourists have in their minds when they visit but that’s life. Things change!
Well that’s it for now. Hope all is well where ever you are in the world!
Much love

You look wonderful and happy and I like the glasses! OH, the wine glasses too of course. It’s Thanksgiving here in Canada and the leaves are finally turning bright colours. Peace to you. Victoria
Hi Victoria….lovely to hear from you. Can’t wait to see the autumn leaves here – we missed it somehow last time we were in Europe. Travelled up to Norway and saw the end of the beautiful autumn colours – the leaves where all just about gone, and when we had left France things we just starting. Timing!
Love to all Di and Reg
