It’s a quiet life in Cambridge. Lots of days snuggled in by the central heating and rugged up for walks around the neighbouring streets and into the city centre. One not so quiet day was last Saturday when our local main road closed for the “Mill Road Winter Fair”. This is a much anticipated annual event. Mill Road runs through Romsey Town – our area – and over the railway bridge towards the city. We really enjoyed wandering along checking out the food stalls, entertainment – musicians and groups of street dancers, and the many local shops. So many people – and it just got busier as the day went on!! Lots of atmosphere. We sampled some Indian food for lunch – very yummy! We did see some familiar faces in the crowd which was kind of nice. Strong community feel around here.
I left Reg at home yesterday and headed off into the city and just walked – got a bit lost at one point but it’s amazing what you discover when lost! My little adventure took me past Emmanuel College, through a lovey park called Jesus Green, alongside a very pretty canal with resident white swans and very noisy black ducks, past St John’s College with its amazing stain glass windows, then through the main shopping area filled with little lanes, an excellent market with lots of stalls, boutique shops, and department stores. We had done some winter clothes shopping earlier in the week so was back in familiar territory! I then headed through yet another peaceful green park – so many in Cambridge – back along Mill Rd and home. A bit of a circuit really.
We helped out at a special Christmas dinner at St Philips – our local church – last night. A group called “Phil’s People” meet once a month for a meal and this was their Christmas celebration. Many of the group need special encouragement and care and St Philips is very supportive and involved with its local community. A real privilege to be a part of it. A great night! An excellent meal and lots of lovely people.
Love to all
Di and Reg

Guess what? There is not snow here yet!!! It looks like a mild winter. Last winter was a special one just for you two, I guess. We have started singing Christmas songs. This week it will be “When a Child is Born”. Our choir is now bigger because we sing with Union church choir every week. Nice to see all the colour in Cambridge. Wishing you a Blessed Christmas. Take care. Victoria

We were wondering where Reg was and finally found you!!
We are in Sydney nowadays – Leigh still making fruit juice until next year sometime and Julie being kept in the manner she has become accustomed to.
We have the intention of returning to the Riverland on retirement and then doing some travelling.
Pleased to see you guys are enjoying your lifestyle – keep on keeping on.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and best wishes for times ahead.
Hello! Lovely to hear from you. I keep wondering were I am as well. We are doing the 3 month shuffle between France and the UK so we don’t outlast our stay. Still following our house sits – never a dull moment. It is a great way to travel – settling in one area for a while, walking the dogs and nursing the cats. I will fill you in a bit more via email – this Di’s blog – she loves to write and carry on. Lots of love, Reg and Di
