Yes, snow at last. Only a small fall but we don’t care. It has snowed!
We are busy today packing and cleaning. Catching the plane to Dublin tomorrow. Our time here on the edge of Stockton-On-Tees has been relatively quiet. A few trips to the nearby National Parks to see the beautiful scenery, shopping at the local Tesco’s supermarket, and walking the dogs. That’s it really.
Yesterday we drove to the Yorkshire Dales. Tried to go cross country but our TomTom wanted us back on the main roads. There was small battle of wills! We ended up slightly lost but eventually arrived at Swaledale – a beautiful valley towards the northern end of the Dales. We drove along the valley to Reeth – lovely afternoon tea again! – and then on to Gunnerside. Both small villages that we know well – have stayed in both of them at different times. There was still some snow on the hills but no ice on the road. We don’t have winter tires on our car so it was a bonus to find the roads so clear. We could see fires in the distance – more burning of the heather – but no smoke effecting the views. We just love the Dales! It was so good to be back.
Bert the pup has continued to grow at a rate of knots. He is going to be humongous! He is full of energy! Things have settled quite well during our stay – part of house sitting pets is getting to know their routine and personalities. Izzi and Stan are English Shepherds, and English Shepherds love to be near you. They are called “shadow dogs”. But Izzi and Stan are also very different. Izzi is loud and bossy, Stan is quiet and gentle. Bert is an English Mastiff, hence his amazing size. He loves being outside doing his thing. Although friendly, he couldn’t care less if you are near by or not. Always interesting. Just add “Pet Psychologist” to our house sit resume!
Love again
