Time is ticking on in Thuir. Pruning has nearly finished, so we’ll have to find something else to keep the kilos at bay!! We spent a day bottling wine at Domain Treloar – Jonathon and Rachel’s winery – so that will help. Brought back memories of “Purple Hands” – our little wine making business in South Australia. We had a small bottling line – very mobile and hands on – set up around the edge of our trailer. Bottling at Domain Treloar was a bit more automated – a very flash machine to fill, cork, cap and label – but still plenty to keep us busy. It’s nice to work together as a team – especially when you are suffering from paper cuts and blisters. It’s good to know you’re not on your own!!!!
We had Colin and Barbara for lunch one Saturday – they sometimes drive over to Thuir to visit the market. They also took us on a day trip to Empuriabrava on the coast of Spain – north of Barcelona. Quite a large tourist town with a huge marina full of boats. Some tiny, others enormous. Also canals everywhere. People have private moorings at the bottom of their gardens – very convenient! We had a lovely lunch at Restaurant Capitan – more food, more wine. Also some very indulgent deserts! I think we need help!! On the way home we called into the Spanish city of Figueres – birth place of Salvador Dali. Great to wander through some of the squares and side streets. I’ll include one photo taken by Colin – it’s taken on an angle. Colin is inferring that we are a bit tipsy. We, of course, strongly refute any such inference or claim! We visited San Pere church and walked past the Dali Museum – some very “interesting” statues in and around the museum square. You really need some sort of explanation to actually get what Dali is trying to say. Apparently the museum is worth a visit – comments from friends range from “interesting but bizarre” to “the best museum I have ever visited”. We will see!!
Love as always
