- Arriving in London
- Next installment!
- What a great time!
We have just had 4 nights in London with our beautiful granddaughter Ocea. We arrived safely back to our Northern Ireland house sit last night – tired but content. Before I start telling you about London I need to thank Chris – our neighbour – for the work he has done on this website. Looks amazing!! I am still working on re-posting things in new categories and mapping blog locations etc but am really enjoying playing with it all. Need lots of tuition – thanks again to Chris. One change that effects you guys is a new button in the leave a comment section. It says “I’m not a robot” and you will need to tick that box to leave a message. I get literally hundreds of electronically generated comments and this will help stop that. So please continue to leave your comments – I love getting them. There is also a couple of boxes under the comments section – you can tick them to be notified by email when I post a new blog or when I reply to your comment. Makes life easy. Okay – on to the latest news!
We arrived in London last Saturday – a lift to Newry, 2 buses, flight, 1 train. All uneventful. Ocea met us at Clapham Junction train station and we walked back to her house near the Clapham High Street. She is working as a nanny with a young English family. Tom and Lucy are the parents, Jack(2) and Flora(5 months) are the children. She is loving it!! They live in a beautiful terrace house that has numerous levels. The basement has the kitchen, dining, family area, the next level is more formal, and further up are the bedrooms. Lovely large back yard with room for a BBQ/sitting area, gardens, and for Jack to run around. We ordered some great Indian for tea – the Vindaloo was eye watering but exceptionally nice – and spent the evening just catching up.
The next morning we headed into Westminster Abbey for church. All very quiet and formal. After the service everyone left the main chapel through a side door. Really interesting to be at the back of the abbey – an enclosed quadrangle garden, little courtyards, arched walkways leading off in different directions. Lots of little treasures. We eventually came out near the main entrance where people where already going in for the next service. It was then off to check out Parliament House and Big Ben before crossing over the Thames and walking to the Tate Modern – a huge gallery/museum that houses art from 1900 to the present day. Lots to look at, lots of famous artists. I really enjoyed some photography by Lorna Simpson, especially a series of prints called the “Five Day Forecast” – apparently typical of her works. She likes to focus on the lives of African American women in contemporary society. Very thought provoking. Next it was back over the Thames – this time on the Millennium Bridge – a quick visit to St Paul’s Cathedral, on to a cafe for lunch, then finally catching the tube home. Time to just chill – it had been a busy day. More of London next time.
Lots of Love
Di and Reg
P.S. if you get a chance check out the very bottom of the page – website designed by Ocea and Websmith. I would be lost without them.

Hi Tarsh……yes, Reg was back with his toys first thing this morning! Love you xx
Hey you two, what a life! By the way John wants me to address you as Di and Reginald John! What a wonderful time you seen to be having. We just love hearing your exploits.
It’s like being there. We loved London too. We were actually a bit concerned about your being there post Brexit (a few prayers were said!) but all is ok it seems.
Must have been wonderful to catch up with Ocea.
We are hopefully preparing to try free camping in our caravan for a bit. (Out of established parks) Looking forward to that!
Meanwhile, can’t wait for your next instalment!
Cheers
Lorraine & John Reginald!
Hi Lorraine and John Reginald…….thanks for your prayers and concern. Some of our friends are thrilled with the vote, others very concerned and frustrated. Like the sound of free camping – off the beaten track. You must do some updates on where you are and what is happening. Would love to hear about your “adventures”. Planning to do another blog today on London – it was so amazing to catch up with Ocea. We all kept pinching ourselves! Love Di and Reginald John
