We have been warned that Mourne Park gets under your skin. Once you settle in you never want to leave!! How true is that. So peaceful, so comfy, so relaxing – this place is like a big hug!! Chris’s biggest struggle is to do his IT work – which is a worry considering it’s how he makes his living! He just loves getting in his old work clothes and playing with his toys – ride on mower, chainsaw, strimmer, huge big back hoe tractor thingy. Reg is as bad. Always heading out the door with a smile on his face, returning tired but happy. While the grounds are taking shape there is still plenty of work to be done. Chris would love to restore the tennis court, and the old swimming pool is cracked and empty. Both areas still have a feel of grandeur but are now quite run down. Part of the Mourne Park restoration plans I guess. It’s been lovely to be a part of it all – a very different house sit – but we love the variety!
I am busy. Our cottage garden is getting a real make over. I have gone from gentle weeding to ripping out the over growth – so many plants had grown into each other – hard to tell what is what at times. I’ve created lots of pathways and little bush tunnels – they’re a bit like miniature cubby houses. My own little world. Crawling between the bushes, poking my head and shoulders in and under a canopy to get to hidden areas. Quite satisfying really! And I’m still doing heaps of baking. Two busy men, working physically hard, demand lots of biscuits and cakes for morning and afternoon tea. The oven in our kitchen is very basic and things don’t always go to plan. My chocolate cakes don’t seem to rise and we are left with more of a mud cake/slice – probably nicer than the cake would be! So while the oven is a challenge there are no real complaints. We choose to suffer in silence!!
Maurey, the horse, is now in a field near our cottage. Lovely to see him so close – also easier to take him carrots. Such a gentle horse. The weather has also changed. Quite a few misty days – makes everything look closed in and mysterious. Not sure how the local golfers have been coping – can barely see the greens some days. Also had a thunder/lightning storm one night that knocked out our internet. Direct strike apparently! BT – internet provider – sent a couple of guys to check things out and all is well again. Lovely, friendly guys – nice to have a chat.
We are off to London on the 25th of June to visit our grand-daughter Ocea for a few days. She is working as a nanny in Clapham. Can’t wait to see her!!
Love as always

I bet you are excited to see Ocea – she has grown up so fast. I had my first day of my course the other day. I went to the daycare centre from 9 am till 3 pm. There are 50, YES 50!!!!! 2-5 year olds. I came home and was in bed asleep by 8.45 pm that night!!. I go to the centre for 6 hours per week, on a Wednesday. Just waiting for my study to arrive in the mail any day soon.
