- Arriving in London
- Next installment!
- What a great time!
It was our last full day in London and Reg decided to stay at home in Clapham. Ocea and I headed back into the city again. I needed a haircut so we went straight to Supercuts in Oxford St – nice to be short again. Well my hair at least! We then walked down Oxford St and checked out Selfridges department store – famous from the TV series. Very high end!! I then suggested we visit the oldest wine shop in Britain – Berry Bros. Reg and I had visited in 09 and I remembered a wonderful arcade and wanted to see it again. So we set off through some very up market shopping areas – all the top stores – until we found the wine shop. I’d got it all wrong – the store was there but no arcade. Never mind – memory fading! So we just checked out the wine – so much character in that little old shop. As we left we noticed a crowd of people down a side street called “Little St James St” so decided to find out what was happening. What a treat – we’d stumbled across the Changing of the Guard. There they where, lined up in the grounds of St James Palace getting ready to march to Buckingham Palace. Lots of cameras clicking as they took off with us and the crowd following. We managed to skirt around the road – everything was blocked off – and get a reasonable position near one of the side fences of Buckingham Palace. I think we may have been a little bit naughty in crossing the street as the police let a few cars through but we were prepared to plead ignorance! All worth it.
After all the excitement we headed off again, skirting Hyde Park, visiting Wellington Arch, and walking through Knightsbridge. We past a very famous restaurant “Dinner by Heston Blumenthal” on the way, but no time to stop for lunch! Next it was Harrods where we checked out some Prada bags – on sale but still out of our budget, some books, and the Egyptian escalator. All good fun. Next was the bus home for a quiet afternoon – by this time badly needed!
Our last day in London was wonderful. Our friend Anna – we know her from Perpignan – came to visit us in Clapham. Coffee and a catch up before walking to the High St for lunch. It was so good to see her! Mid afternoon it was off to the airport to catch our flight to Belfast. Back to the quiet life at Mourne Park – our house sit near Kilkeel. Many thanks to Tom and Lucy for letting us stay in their beautiful home. We had a great time.
Love to all
Di and Reg

Anna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
Yes – it was so lovely to see her. She is such a delight and it was fun to introduce her to Ocea.
Dear Di and RJ,
Wow, I feel tired just reading all this! You probably need a week of quiet to recuperate!
Your house sit sounds amazing. We have to be content with watching Eascape to the Country on tv!
Meanwhile we are gearing for 3 weeks in Victoria next month in the van . Halls Gap in the Grampians and Pt Campbell on the coast. It will probably be freezing! Well, by Australian standards anyway.
Anyway, enjoy!
Love,
Lorraine & JR
Yes so quiet here at Mourne Park – a welcome chance to recuperate after the busyness of London! All good, I like variety. Have a great time in Victoria. xx
Love you guys so much and missing you already!!! See you soon (where ever that may be) xxxxx
Thanks so much for looking after us! Miss you too xxxxxx
