The drought has broken at Mourne Park!! Our wonderful house sit in Northern Ireland. We went from hermits – just the three of us – to a full house!! It was Chris’ birthday last Saturday and we had a continual flow of visitors. The first friends arrived late morning with lots of goodies – salads, bread, sandwiches, salmon, meat for the BBQ, beer, wine etc etc. Chris seems to bring the mothering instinct out in lots of ladies – single guy on his own. Its one of those little quirks in life! So beautiful Lai arrived with her husband Steve and extended family to make sure Chris was loved and had a great day. We got to reap the benefits – just because we are here. No complaints!
Reg was the BBQ person – seems to go with being an Aussie. A lovely lunch was followed by a quick hit of tennis. Even I had a hit – never played but gave it a go! Birthday cake with candles to finish the afternoon. After Lai and family had left the next lot of visitors arrived – Marion, Alan and family, followed by another wave – Brian, Valene and their three beautiful girls. More meat on the BBQ, more laughing and chatting. The odd wine and beer. Children running around enjoying themselves. I am sure Mourne Park loved it – it has such a social history – families growing up here, big parties and social occasions. We had heaps of fun!
We have some extra residents here at the moment. Pippa the horse and Pebbles the King Charles Spaniel – both temporary but loved just the same. Maurey – our Mourne Park horse – has moved back down to the lake again and Pippa is in the field near us. She is so friendly – always trots over for a pat and the odd carrot. Little Pebbles is staying with us for a week and a bit so we are having regular walks. She loves it. As soon as she sees her lead appear she does little twirls. Very cute. She’s loves to be involved in everything we are doing – follows me like a little shadow during the day. We still catch up with Maurey – it’s lovely to walk down to the lake, carrots in hand, and a little dog on the lead. He’s still seems keen to see us – but suspect its the long pointy orange things – not our company that makes him happy!
Reg and Chris now have a new ride on mower. Very excited! I must admit – they all look the same to me!
Love as always
Di and Reg
