Our new house sit in Vale Park, Adelaide is going well. We have two very sweet dogs to look after. Raz is bigger and older. He’s 17, partially blind and a bit on the deaf side. He still enjoys his walks and is very affectionate. Loves to be where you are. Sasha is little and cute – also enjoys her walks and has a thing for hiding bones in the yard – always disappearing around the corner of the house to check they’re still safe. They have two walks a day – one along the nearby river and the other around the local streets. We spend more time standing still than moving forward! They sniff everything in sight, then there’s the obligatory “marking” of territory! It can take a long time for a relatively short walk! We live in a great spot – our house is within walking distance of a couple of small supermarkets/shopping centres – we even have another shopping trolley – this time bright yellow. Variety is the spice of life! We can also use the bus if we want – stops at our corner, passes one of the supermarkets, and continues on to the centre of the city. We caught the bus into the city the other day to do a bit of shopping – quick trip and since we now have Senior’s Cards it cost us nothing! One of the advantages of the “elderly” I guess!
We are also in walking distance to family – Ben, Komala, Will and Molly also live in Vale Park. We now pick up the kids from school – also nearby- three afternoons a week. Most days we head back to their house to do homework and some jobs – keen to earn their pocket money! But on Friday afternoon we came back to our house. Molly helped me walk the dogs, then it was back to the house to listern to some music. Ended up dancing in the back lounge – Raz really got into it – best dancer in the room!! Ben and Komala came for tea after work – lovely to sit around the dining table together. Reg’s daughter Ginny and partner Owen have also visited – lots of chatting and catching up – also enjoyed a lovely meal and some very nice wine. Ginny is a chip off the old block! My brother Kevin and wife Josie have already dropped in and Reg’s sister Leonie has been for lunch. Whew!!! Making up for lost time!!
One big highlight has been a trip to Adelaide Oval – sporting stadium – to watch our beloved Adelaide Crows play Great Western Sydney. This is AFL of course – our own unique Aussie game of football. We went with Ben and Will. Had a wonderful view of the game from high up in the stadium. Used the huge TV screens situated around the ground to get a closer view. The Crows had a great win – but must admit we spent most of the game sitting on the edge of our seat. Quite nerve racking really.
Sad day this last week. Seven years since my brother Peter passed away – still hard to believe! His kids are all grown up now – 3 grandkids born in the last 3 years. Love you Pete!
Lots of love
Di and Reg
